Hosted at Sky HUB in Victoria, this breakfast seminar will explore the key themes of the report, including what good and balanced growth looks like across the CAZ, the key trends and policies shaping central London’s economic growth and how to balance sustainability and net zero ambitions with the principles of good growth.
The event will feature a keynote speech from Howard Dawber (Deputy Mayor for Business, Greater London Authority), who provided the report’s foreword and a short presentation on the key findings of the report from its author Matthew Dillon (Global Economics Skills Leader, Arup). This will be followed by an expert panel discussion, with panellists being announced shortly.

Future-proofing national policy to support sustainable development
Policy makers from central London local authorities, the Greater London Authority and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities joined a London Property Alliance roundtable to discuss the key findings and recommendations our upcoming report - Retrofit First, Not Retrofit Only: Future-proofing national policy to support sustainable development.
Produced in collaboration with Savills, the report examines the need for clearer national guidance to help local councils make informed and balanced decisions around future development, and follows on from our popular member seminar in March. London Leaders interviews
Ahead of next month’s General Election, we’ve interviewed the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat candidates vying to be the next MP for Cities of London and Westminster – one of the few genuinely three-way races in Greater London.
All three interviews were conducted exclusively for our monthly Politics and Planning newsletter, sent to joint CPA and WPA members.
LPA’s Chief Economic Advisor Alexander Jan provided an insightful update on how the London office market has fared globally at EG’s Future of the Workplace conference. Drawing on the findings of our Global Cities Survey, Alex concluded that there’s cause for optimism with London having the most buoyant prime office market when compared against its key global city peer cities of New York, Paris, Berlin and Hong Kong.

UKREiiF Drinks Reception
Back in May, nearly 300 guests attended our reception in Leeds, which featured a fantastic line up of speakers including, Shravan Joshi MBE, Chairman of the Planning and Transportation Committee at the City of London Corporation, Melissa Román Burch, Chief Operating Officer at the New York City Economic Development Corporation and Dr Wei Yang, Cofounder and CEO at the Digital Task Force for Planning.

The Greater London Authority’s 19th Annual Monitoring Report, the first paper to monitor the London Plan 2021, reveals that the KPI for office space capacity is being met. The current ratio of planning permissions for office space is 8.7 times the average office construction starts over the past three years, with this high ratio likely resulting from a decline in new office projects starting following uncertainties arising post-pandemic. The latest London Office Crane Survey from Deloitte has found that the total volume of new starts between October 2023 and March 2024 came in at 4.2m sq ft across 42 projects. Read more here.
