Their presentations will cover the latest insights, updates and best practice on retrofitting historic buildings in Westminster.

 

This follows the announcement that Grosvenor has successfully retrofitted of over 1 million sq. ft. of space across its London estate.

    Charter network hits new milestone

    Going from strength to strength the Sustainable City Charter network has expanded to 61 of Westminster’s leading businesses and institutions including Orbus Software, Westminster Property Association Board member and major property developer and investor British Land, and some of the City’s most renowned cultural institutions, including Somerset House, The Photographer’s Gallery, St Paul’s Church in Marylebone and the actor's church, St. Paul’s in Covent Garden.

    Resource and toolkit update

    A new and exclusive resource and toolkit hub for Sustainable City Charter signatories is currently in development. The hub will bring together valuable resources and guidance to support members in reducing their carbon emissions, including case studies, checklists and more. For any questions, please contact the Climate Emergency team here.

    New funding to turn pockets of London into wildlife havens

    Westminster City Council has awarded £330,000 of funding to urban wilding projects in 2024. The funding will be used by residents to create new communal green spaces in their own communities, with successful projects including Lisson Green Estate Community Allotments and the Onion Garden in Victoria.     Fairer Westminster celebrates its two-year anniversary

    The City Council is celebrating a two-year anniversary of its Fairer Westminster vision. The City Council has released the Fairer Westminster Delivery Plan for 2024-25, which sets out what the Council has planned for the next year across its Fairer initiatives, including the Fairer Environment. The Sustainable City Charter is a key measure in the Fairer Westminster Delivery Plan and you can read more about what they have planned over the next year here.

    Embodied Carbon Scope 3 Measurement and Reporting

    The latest report from UKGBC seeks to align organisational reporting and project-based embodied carbon assessments to show how both can support emission reductions efforts. Read the report here. 

    Green Lease Toolkit

    The Green Lease Toolkit initiative from Better Building Partnerships is a way for commercial property landlords and tenants to reduce the environmental impact of a property. Sustainable City Charter signatories attended a workshop in February where they were able to hear more about the charter from industry experts involved in its development.
